2016 MDP Review - Corpus Christi, TX Family Photographer

2016 has come to a close, and my, has it been an exciting year filled with challenges, joy, love and at times - confusion! I have had this year to discover what kind of photographer I want to be and it's been an amazing journey. I have learned from other photographers, taken classes, but most importantly I have learned a LOT about what I want my business to reflect through my clients. I am so thankful for each and every person out there who came across my path and had an interest in my work and had it in their heart to share their family with me so I could try my best to reflect their love through my art!

2016 was an exciting year for me! I am finally getting around to posting about my best images from my 2016 sessions and I am so thrilled to do so. My delay is mostly due to scheduling sessions all the way to December 31st! The past two months have been busy for me and I consider myself so blessed to have had so much to keep me working at the end of the year.

It’s been so fun going through all of my sessions from this past year and seeing how much my photography style and approach as grown. When I started my business in April this past year I was so excited but felt very overwhelmed at the same time. I am so thankful to those first clients who took a chance on me to create beautiful photographs for them.

So, as we start 2017 I can’t think of a better way to think of honoring all joy the world of photography has brought me than to look at all the beautiful people that made it all possible for me!

I have put all the images into order chronologically so that it shows my progress through this year. Some of these images I have chosen because they have emotion, others because of the beautiful light, some have great composition and a few I accomplished great exposure! But all of them made me feel something and reflect a part of my voice in this world of photography. There is a story to tell in each image that I hope you will see.

I am posting this first blog post on my new and improved blog and website and I am so excited for what the future hold for Mikayla D Photography!

My first paid sessions were mini sessions and I am so thankful to these two families for helping me get started on this journey. Looking at these images when I first uploaded them was thrilling. That's when I thought, I can really do this!

Still one of my favorite sessions! Thank you to the Lohse Family for being my first Full Session!
